This project is to upload buildings with addresses for Dakota County, MN. Buildings have been tagged with address and other building information.

The buildings with building information and address information have been split up into areas based on the Public Land Survey (PLS). They have been split up into somewhat manageable areas. Some areas are full sections and have very few buildings and some areas are quarter sections and have hundreds. If a building crossed a boundary of the layer, it is in both to make sure it gets loaded.

To begin working on a task:

  1. Open JOSM
  2. Click the "load existing OSM data" link to zoom to the project area and load existing data from OSM
  3. Add this aerial image service from spring 2016 - https://gis2.co.dakota.mn.us/arcgis/services/AerialPhotography/2016AirPhotoLeafOff6Inch/ImageServer/WMSServer?request=GetCapabilities&service=WMS
  4. There should be a file of buildings with building and address information for this task, click it to import the processed building footprints into JOSM. Visually inspect the data, update any values, conflate with exiting buildings if need be, run validation, and upload if everything looks okay.
