Please note the following: iD provides a custom dropdown for setting the bike lanes on either side of a street. The MPO data also lists the width of the bike lane. Please include this in your tagging where available by setting the cycleway:(right|left):width= tag. For example, cycleway:right:width='5 ft'. Parking is important to the comfort of a bike facility. Please at least tag ways with bike lanes where parking is not allowed. E.g. cycleway:right:lane & parking:lane:right:no_stopping. Always check the satellite imagery to confirm what the MPO data indicates. If you're unsure about something please ask around. There's bound to be someone in the room familiar with existing conditions at the location you're looking at. If you come across a situation that doesn't exactly fit the basic tagging that has been outlined, please find a knowledgeable OSM mapper to provide guidance.
A custom base map showing the MPO's bike lane data is available for use in iD by clicking the layers button and selecting "Custom". We are unable to include a legend to describe the symbols. Regular bike lanes are in lighter blue. Buffered bike lanes are colored darker blue. The URL is:
It may also be useful to open it as a separate map. This can be done with the following link:
